It maintains the current temperature of the land and reflects the radiation energy (heat) back to the ground. It acts as a thick blanket drawn over the field protecting the heat of the ground.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anti-freeze effect with moisturizing oil vapor:<\/strong> The sprayed artificial cloud is the vapor form of an oil solution. It temporarily creates a very thin layer of oil over the blossoms. Penetrating between water molecules that tend to crystallize and freeze, it increases resistance to cold and provides an <a href=\"https:\/\/whitefog.com\/agriculture\/nemlendirici-yag-buhari-ile-anti-friz-etkisi\/\">anti-freeze effect<\/a>. Instead, they protect crops by preserving the heat that\u2019s already there.<\/p><p data-start=\"335\" data-end=\"620\">Think of them like a blanket on a cold night: a blanket doesn\u2019t create heat, but it traps your body warmth and keeps the cold air away. Similarly, a thermal fogging machine creates an \u201cartifical cloud\u201d that reflects plants\u2019 and ground&#8217;s own heat back to them.<\/p><p data-start=\"622\" data-end=\"671\">The artifical fog also delays ice formation in two additional ways:<\/p><ol data-start=\"672\" data-end=\"989\"><li data-start=\"672\" data-end=\"827\"><p data-start=\"675\" data-end=\"827\"><strong data-start=\"675\" data-end=\"697\">Antifreeze effect:<\/strong> A thin oil-based coating on flowers stops water molecules from clumping into ice crystals, so even at \u201310 \u00b0C, frost won\u2019t form.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"828\" data-end=\"989\"><p data-start=\"831\" data-end=\"989\"><strong data-start=\"831\" data-end=\"856\">Inversion effect:<\/strong> It is already explained that the artificial cloud acts like an emergency aliminium foil blanket, reflecting thermal radiation back toward the plants and slowing cooling. Inversion effect: as in the law of physics, the lighter artificial cloud rises and pushes away the heavier cold air which tries to sink on the plants. The fog curtain works asa shield, prevents the cold air from reaching and damaging the crops by pushing it away.<\/p><\/li><\/ol><p data-start=\"991\" data-end=\"1218\">Note that most damaging frost in agriculture isn\u2019t caused by low air temperature alone, but by <strong data-start=\"1076\" data-end=\"1095\">radiation frost<\/strong> \u2014 happens on windless and cloudless sky. In such calm nights earth&#8217;s heat escapes upward and the ground cools rapidly. Wind and clouds help prevent frost:<\/p><ul data-start=\"1219\" data-end=\"1358\"><li data-start=\"1219\" data-end=\"1300\"><p data-start=\"1221\" data-end=\"1300\"><strong data-start=\"1221\" data-end=\"1229\">Wind<\/strong> stirs warmer air and cold air, prevents cold air from settling above the plants.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"1301\" data-end=\"1358\"><p data-start=\"1303\" data-end=\"1358\"><strong data-start=\"1303\" data-end=\"1313\">Clouds<\/strong> act like a blanket, reflecting heat back down.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"1360\" data-end=\"1609\">One way to picture this is with a cement mixer: if the drum stops, the cement mixture settles and hardens; if it keeps turning, the contents stay mixed and workable. In the same way, wind keeps air moving and prevents extreme cooling at crop level.<\/p><p style=\"margin-bottom: 24px; border: 0px solid #4b5256;\" data-start=\"186\" data-end=\"480\">Another example is that it is often observed that frost does not form and flowers are not damaged during snowfall. In short, cold air or snow is not the actual cause of frost. Although subzero temperatures create a suitable environment for frost formation, the real cause is <span style=\"font-weight: bolder; border: 0px solid #4b5256;\" data-start=\"436\" data-end=\"461\">cloudless and windless<\/span> static air conditions. <span style=\"background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); border: 0px solid #4b5256;\">In such weather, water molecules in the atmosphere condense and turn into ice crystals. During this contact, a <span style=\"font-weight: bolder; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); border: 0px solid #4b5256;\" data-start=\"720\" data-end=\"742\">conduction effect<\/span> occurs, and plants suffer the most serious damage at this stage. The sudden heat transfer through conduction burns the flower tissues in the ice crystals and causes permanent damage. This produces a limited heat transfer that aims to reduce frost damage.<\/p><p data-start=\"444\" data-end=\"797\">When temperatures fall below \u20134\u00b0C, however, there is no longer enough warm air available to mix, making it impossible to protect flowers and fruit tissues. In such conditions, operating the fans can actually convert <strong data-start=\"660\" data-end=\"696\">radiation frost (calm air frost)<\/strong> into <strong data-start=\"702\" data-end=\"735\">advection frost (windy frost)<\/strong>, which may cause <strong data-start=\"753\" data-end=\"787\">more burning and tissue damage<\/strong> to crops.<\/p><p data-start=\"799\" data-end=\"1092\">Frost fans are also <strong data-start=\"819\" data-end=\"837\">very expensive<\/strong>. Unit prices start at around <strong data-start=\"867\" data-end=\"878\">\u20ac30,000<\/strong>, and a single fan can protect a maximum of <strong data-start=\"922\" data-end=\"949\">5 hectares (50 decares)<\/strong>. To protect a 20-hectare area, <strong data-start=\"981\" data-end=\"994\">four fans<\/strong> are required, bringing total equipment costs to about <strong data-start=\"1049\" data-end=\"1061\">\u20ac150,000<\/strong>, excluding site preparation.<\/p><p data-start=\"1094\" data-end=\"1555\">Additionally, due to safety protocols, frost fans automatically shut down under <strong data-start=\"1174\" data-end=\"1204\">even light wind conditions<\/strong> to protect themselves. Installation is another major disadvantage: the system requires a <strong data-start=\"1294\" data-end=\"1354\">strong electrical infrastructure or a powerful generator<\/strong>, which means extra costs and time for site works, cabling, and infrastructure. In rented land, such investments are often non-recoverable, creating a serious <strong data-start=\"1513\" data-end=\"1554\">economic and operational disadvantage<\/strong>.<\/p><h3><strong data-start=\"1565\" data-end=\"1598\">Sprinkler (Irrigation) Method:<\/strong><\/h3><p data-start=\"1600\" data-end=\"1768\">The irrigation method can provide <strong data-start=\"1634\" data-end=\"1685\">some protection in moderate frost, down to \u20134\u00b0C<\/strong>. However, in <strong data-start=\"1699\" data-end=\"1732\">severe frost below this range<\/strong>, its effectiveness drops sharply.<\/p><p data-start=\"1770\" data-end=\"1938\">At <strong data-start=\"1773\" data-end=\"1791\">\u20136\u00b0C and lower<\/strong>, instead of protecting flowers and fruit, irrigation can <strong data-start=\"1849\" data-end=\"1874\">increase frost damage<\/strong>, causing <strong data-start=\"1884\" data-end=\"1905\">burning and death<\/strong> on branches and tree surfaces.<\/p><p data-start=\"1940\" data-end=\"2301\">One of the most critical weaknesses of this method is the risk of <strong data-start=\"2006\" data-end=\"2059\">power cuts, water interruptions, or pump failures<\/strong>. If irrigation stops suddenly, the wet surfaces <strong data-start=\"2108\" data-end=\"2146\">freeze much faster and more deeply<\/strong>, which can result in the <strong data-start=\"2172\" data-end=\"2217\">complete loss of branches and young trees<\/strong>. For this reason, irrigation is considered a <strong data-start=\"2263\" data-end=\"2300\">high-risk frost-protection method<\/strong>.<\/p><h3><strong data-start=\"2311\" data-end=\"2337\">Burning Straw or Tires:<\/strong><\/h3><p data-start=\"2339\" data-end=\"2525\">Using straw or tire burning to fight agricultural frost is <strong data-start=\"2398\" data-end=\"2444\">labor-intensive and logistically difficult<\/strong>. It requires serious preparation in advance and often leads to delayed response.<\/p><p data-start=\"2527\" data-end=\"2866\">This method produces smoke by <strong data-start=\"2557\" data-end=\"2578\">direct combustion<\/strong>. Fire does not warm crops in a controlled way to create beneficial evaporation; instead, it breaks down the material at a molecular level and produces <strong data-start=\"2730\" data-end=\"2758\">dry, fine-particle smoke<\/strong>. Straw and tire smoke consist of <strong data-start=\"2792\" data-end=\"2835\">micronized particles about 1 \u03bcm in size<\/strong>, similar to cigarette smoke.<\/p><p data-start=\"2868\" data-end=\"3100\">Because of this small particle size, the smoke <strong data-start=\"2915\" data-end=\"2938\">drifts away quickly<\/strong> and does not stay suspended over the field. Since it is dry, it <strong data-start=\"3003\" data-end=\"3032\">has no anti-freeze effect<\/strong> and cannot form a thick insulating layer capable of retaining heat.<\/p><p data-start=\"3102\" data-end=\"3466\">By contrast, our <strong data-start=\"3119\" data-end=\"3147\">thermal fogging machines<\/strong> do not burn the liquid. They <strong data-start=\"3177\" data-end=\"3221\">heat oil-based fluid in a controlled way<\/strong>, producing a <strong data-start=\"3235\" data-end=\"3260\">moist, dew-like vapor<\/strong> with a strong <strong data-start=\"3275\" data-end=\"3297\">anti-freeze effect<\/strong>. The fog particles range from <strong data-start=\"3328\" data-end=\"3343\">1 to 100 \u03bcm<\/strong>, allowing the fog to stay suspended at different heights and form a <strong data-start=\"3412\" data-end=\"3463\">dense, three-dimensional artificial cloud layer<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"3468\" data-end=\"3931\">Because of the larger particle size, this artificial cloud forms a <strong data-start=\"3535\" data-end=\"3578\">much thicker and more effective barrier<\/strong> than straw or tire smoke, trapping radiation (heat) far more efficiently. While straw or tire smoke acts like a <strong data-start=\"3691\" data-end=\"3705\">thin sheet<\/strong>, the fog produced by our machines works like a <strong data-start=\"3753\" data-end=\"3770\">thick blanket<\/strong>, providing far superior frost protection. The <strong data-start=\"3817\" data-end=\"3839\">denser, thicker and consisting different micron sized particles<\/strong>\u00a0the artificial cloud layer is, the <strong data-start=\"3876\" data-end=\"3903\">higher the success rate<\/strong> against agricultural frost.<\/p><h3 data-start=\"3938\" data-end=\"3985\">Other Smoke Machines or Homemade Systems:<\/h3><p data-start=\"3987\" data-end=\"4365\">Some farmers attempt to produce smoke by <strong data-start=\"4028\" data-end=\"4075\">dripping diesel fuel into a tractor exhaust<\/strong>. This method is <strong data-start=\"4092\" data-end=\"4134\">technically incorrect and highly risky<\/strong>. Fuel or oil in the exhaust causes <strong data-start=\"4170\" data-end=\"4212\">carbon buildup and lubrication failure<\/strong> in pistons, rings, and cylinder walls, leading to rapid engine wear. In practice, tractors using this method often become <strong data-start=\"4335\" data-end=\"4364\">unusable within two years<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"4367\" data-end=\"4600\">The oil flow that can be fed into the exhaust is technically limited to about <strong data-start=\"4445\" data-end=\"4467\">20 liters per hour<\/strong>, which is far too low to create a smoke density and particle concentration sufficient to form an effective frost-protection layer.<\/p><p data-start=\"4602\" data-end=\"4797\">Furthermore, exhaust heat does not vaporize the oil under proper conditions, so the resulting smoke is <strong data-start=\"4705\" data-end=\"4712\">dry<\/strong>, not moist. <strong data-start=\"4725\" data-end=\"4764\">Dry smoke has no anti-freeze effect<\/strong> and provides no real protection.<\/p><p data-start=\"4799\" data-end=\"5273\">LPG-powered or <strong data-start=\"4814\" data-end=\"4845\">low-quality thermal foggers<\/strong> also fail to produce effective smoke. LPG systems cannot operate in low temperatures because <strong data-start=\"4939\" data-end=\"4974\">LPG tends to freeze around \u20131\u00b0C<\/strong>, making frost protection impossible. Low-quality thermal fogging machines only produce <strong data-start=\"5046\" data-end=\"5063\">visible smoke<\/strong>, but not a <strong data-start=\"5075\" data-end=\"5112\">functional artificial cloud layer<\/strong>.
